Container freight station services from arrival to final mile

Interworld Freight provides end-to-end container freight station (CFS) services to optimize your supply chain. Whether you manage international imports, cross-border eCommerce or multi-channel distribution, our CFS stations offer bonded and non-bonded solutions tailored to your logistics needs.

As a consolidated freight station and logistics facility near port, we keep cargo flowing from arrival to final mile. Import freight is unloaded at the CFS, deconsolidated and stored until customs clears it for delivery, while LCL cargo can be consolidated for FCL exports.

Our container freight stations are positioned across major logistics hubs in the U.S. and Latin America. If you are searching for a container freight station near you, or need CFS support in Mexico, along key U.S.–LATAM routes or in other cross-border corridors, we offer both the proximity and the performance to meet your needs.

FAQ

Container freight station services, answered

What forwarders, importers and 3PLs ask before routing cargo through our CFS.
Ask us directly
or call +1 (646) 722-0968

Who uses your CFS services?

+
Freight forwarders and consolidators, importers and exporters managing LCL and FCL shipments, retailers and eCommerce distributors, and 3PLs and contract logistics providers that need deconsolidation, cross-docking, transloading, labeling and last-mile readiness. The CFS is where LCL cargo is devanned from the master container, so each consignee's goods are separated and released after customs and carrier release.

How does a CFS work for import cargo?

+
Cargo is unloaded at the CFS, deconsolidated and stored until customs clears it for delivery. Release needs both CBP release of the entry and the carrier's freight release, after which the consignee or trucker collects the cargo against the delivery order.

What’s the difference between a CFS and a bonded warehouse?

+
A CFS focuses on in-transit freight and short-term operations; bonded warehouses hold cargo longer for customs or commercial reasons. A Class 3 bonded warehouse (public bonded warehouse under 19 CFR Part 19) lets importers defer duty while the goods are stored.

What are typical CFS handling charges?

+
Fees are usually based on cargo size, weight and handling needs, charged per pallet or per CBM. LCL handling is commonly billed per CBM or per 1,000 kg, whichever is greater, with extra lines for labeling, palletizing and shrink-wrapping.

Can I use your CFS for both ocean and air freight?

+
Yes. We operate ocean CFS and air CFS stations with multimodal transload capabilities. Air CFS breaks down consolidated air cargo from the master air waybill into house air waybills, while ocean CFS works by bill of lading.

How long can cargo be stored at a CFS?

+
It depends on customs status and your preferences, from hours to several days. Under U.S. law, bonded storage allows goods to stay up to five years from the date of importation, so longer holds belong in a bonded warehouse rather than a CFS.

What documents are required for CFS shipments?

+
Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, and any applicable import licenses. For U.S. imports the importer also needs an ISF 10+2 filed 24 hours before loading, an entry on CBP Form 3461 or 7501 and a customs bond.
