Frequently asked questions about shipping to St Lucia

How much does it cost to ship a container to St Lucia?+
A 20-ft container typically costs between $1,400 and $2,000 and a 40-ft between $2,500 and $3,500. The final price depends on the origin port, the type of cargo and whether you ship a full or a shared container; when you request a quote we confirm it within one business day with the full breakdown. Beyond freight, non-CARICOM goods pay Common External Tariff duty, a 6% Customs Service Charge, a 2.5% Health and Citizen Security Levy and 12.5% VAT, built on the CIF value.
How long does it take to ship a container to St Lucia?+
From the U.S.: 10-14 days. From Europe or South America: 15-25 days. These are estimated ocean transit times; when you request a quote we confirm the next weekly sailing and the estimated arrival date. Transit is port to port; the carrier files the manifest and a customs broker lodges the Single Administrative Document in ASYCUDA World.
What documents do I need to ship to St Lucia?+
You need a commercial invoice, bill of lading or air waybill, and Customs Form 61 or 62, with a broker lodging the Single Administrative Document (SAD) in ASYCUDA World. A certificate of origin is needed only to claim a tariff preference. Restricted goods need permits, for example from the Commissioner of Police for arms or the Minister of Communications for transmitters. We prepare them for you and handle customs clearance at destination, so no missing paper holds your cargo.
FCL or LCL to St Lucia: which should I choose?+
Choose LCL for loads under 15 CBM and FCL for full loads, into Port Castries (LCCAS) or Port Vieux Fort (LCVIF). Taxes do not depend on the format: a 6% customs service charge on CIF value, a 2.5% Health and Citizen Security Levy and 12.5% VAT apply. Castries handles local market cargo, while Vieux Fort handles transshipment. Not sure? Tell us what you are shipping and we recommend the format with the best total cost.
Can I ship household goods or a full move to St Lucia?+
Yes. Household goods are declared in ASYCUDA World with St Lucia Customs. A Simplified Declaration exists for non-commercial shipments, and a broker is not mandatory for small ones. Left-hand-drive vehicles need a Cabinet permit, so check this before including a car in your move. We move personal items, household goods and full relocations, with customs and documentation handled door to door.
Which St Lucia ports do you ship to?+
We serve Port of Castries, Port of Vieux Fort, with customs clearance handled at each one and inland delivery coordinated to the final destination if you need it. Port Castries (LCCAS) handles most consumer imports, while Port Vieux Fort (LCVIF) in the south handles transshipment and cargo for the south of the island.
