How we work

Managing Global Chemical Bids with Consolidation and Drumming Capabilities

For decades, Interworld Freight has been providing valuable assistance to chemical shippers worldwide. Our extensive services include managing global bids into Latin America for all types of chemicals. Additionally, we can serve as a consolidation point within the United States for buyers and sellers, allowing us to receive and store multiple shipments before loading them into a container for delivery.

Our access to drumming facilities further enables us to efficiently transfer individual units of cargo into a larger ISO tank, simplifying handling at both origin and destination points.

Hazmat shipping, drumming and consolidation for chemical exporters

Chemicals move on paperwork as much as on steel. We classify the cargo, write the dangerous goods declaration under IMDG for ocean and IATA DGR for air, repack into UN-approved drums and IBCs when the origin packaging will not travel, and consolidate several suppliers into one bonded or Foreign Trade Zone position in Miami before the container leaves. Placarding, segregation and the 24-hour emergency response contact are ours, not a checklist we hand back to you.

Chemicals rarely move on one clean lane. When a drum program waits for the next vessel, a declaration has to be rewritten or one order splits across three countries, we hold it in our four facilities, totalling 300,000+ sq ft, anchored by its headquarters building in Miami, minutes from PortMiami and Miami International Airport, with segregated hazmat racking, Foreign Trade Zone and bonded space, and the IMDG and IATA DGR paperwork written in the same building.

Chemical logistics: frequently asked questions

How many digits does a UN number have?

+
Four. A UN number is the four-digit code that identifies a dangerous substance in transport, written as UN followed by the digits, for example UN1203 for gasoline. It travels on the dangerous goods declaration with the class and the packing group, and it drives packaging, labelling and segregation on board.

Do you have a chemical storage warehouse?

+
Yes. We store chemicals in our own Miami facilities with hazmat-licensed staff, approved packaging, correct segregation by class and temperature-controlled areas where the product needs them. The same building holds Foreign Trade Zone and bonded space, so duties wait until the cargo leaves for the domestic market.

Can chemicals sit in a bonded warehouse?

+
Yes. Bonded and FTZ storage lets imported chemicals wait without paying duties until they enter the domestic market, which is useful for blending programs, re-export and slow-moving grades. We file the entry ourselves when the cargo finally moves.

How do you ship chemicals by ocean?

+
By ISO tank for bulk liquids, and in drums, IBCs or bags inside standard containers for packaged goods, all declared under the IMDG Code. We build the dangerous goods declaration from your safety data sheet and book the sailing with carriers that accept the class and packing group.

What documents does a chemical shipment need?

+
The safety data sheet, the dangerous goods declaration, the bill of lading, the commercial invoice and the packing list. Some destinations add an import permit or a phytosanitary or health certificate; we tell you which ones apply before the cargo moves.

Do you handle climate-controlled storage for chemical manufacturers?

+
Yes. Climate-controlled areas hold products that cannot take heat or humidity swings, separate from the ambient racking and from incompatible classes. Inventory is visible online with photos, weight and dimensions of every pallet.

What are UN 1203 and UN 1202?

+
UN 1203 is gasoline (petrol) and UN 1202 is diesel fuel, gas oil or heating oil. Both are Class 3 flammable liquids, and the UN number is what drives the packing group, the label, the placard and the segregation on board. We assign it from the safety data sheet before booking, not at the terminal gate.

Do you offer 4PL chemical warehousing?

+
Yes. Beyond storing the cargo, we take the coordination layer: receiving from several producers, repacking, DG paperwork, customs entry and the outbound leg all sit with one account team, so you get a single point of contact instead of a broker, a warehouse and a carrier who do not speak to each other.

Do you have food-grade chemical storage?

+
Yes. Food-grade additives, flavourings and ingredient-grade chemicals are held on a food-grade floor, physically separated from industrial hazmat racking, which is what an FDA or third-party audit asks to see.
