What is international moving?
+
It’s the process of relocating goods, furniture or personal items across national borders, requiring customs clearance and international freight coordination. Interworld Freight has handled international moves since 1992, combining packing and crating, air or ocean freight, customs documentation and final delivery in the destination country.
What is the best way to move internationally?
+
The best option depends on your timeline and budget. Air freight is faster but more expensive, while ocean freight is cost-effective for larger shipments. Ocean household shipments move in 20-ft containers of about 33 m3 (1,170 cu ft), 40-ft containers of about 67 m3, or as shared LCL space for smaller loads.
How do you ensure the safety of my belongings during an international move?
+
We use professional packing materials, custom crating for fragile items, GPS tracking, and work only with trusted carriers worldwide. Wooden crates and pallets used for export are treated and stamped to ISPM 15, the international standard for wood packaging, so they clear customs without delay.
How much does it cost to move overseas?
+
Costs vary based on volume, destination and transport method. We’ll provide a clear, personalized quote after assessing your needs. The main cost drivers are volume in cubic meters, origin and destination, air versus ocean, and extras such as crating, storage and door delivery.
Why do I need storage when moving internationally?
+
Sometimes your new home or office may not be ready when your shipment arrives. We offer secure storage until you’re ready to receive your items. Interworld Freight operates four facilities with 300,000+ sq ft, anchored by its headquarters building in Miami, for temporary or long-term storage.
How far is an international move considered?
+
Any move that crosses a national border qualifies as international. Some moves may be shorter in distance but still require complex logistics. A move from Miami to the Bahamas and one to Madrid are both international: each needs export documents, destination customs clearance and a transport mode matched to the distance.
What is the cheapest way to move internationally?
+
Ocean freight is generally the most affordable option, especially if you choose shared container space. Downsizing your load can also reduce costs. Shared container (LCL) space is billed by cubic meter, so every cubic meter removed from the load lowers the freight cost.
How long will it take for my items to arrive at my new destination?
+
Transit times vary based on the origin and destination. Air shipments can take a few days, while ocean freight may take two to six weeks. Allow additional time for packing, origin pickup, port cut-offs and destination customs clearance on top of transit.
