Advantages of using Interworld Freight's bonded warehouse in Chile

  • Defer customs duties and IVA (19%) - Imported goods remain in our Almacén Particular Autorizado under Aduanas supervision for up to 90 days, extendable with authorization. You pay duties only when goods enter Chilean commerce.

  • Cash flow optimization - Keep capital free by delaying duty payments until the moment of sale or distribution. This is especially valuable for high-value electronics, machinery, and pharmaceutical imports.

  • Re-export without duty - Goods that never enter Chilean customs territory can be re-exported to LATAM, Asia-Pacific, or any destination without incurring any Chilean import taxes.

  • Full customs documentation - Our licensed customs brokers handle all Aduanas paperwork, tariff classification, origin certificates, and compliance filings. Chile's 33 FTAs often reduce or eliminate duties even when goods enter domestic commerce.

  • Secure, seismic-rated storage - NCh433 compliant construction, BASC-certified security, 24/7 surveillance, and controlled access protect your bonded inventory from day one.

  • Strategic location - Región Metropolitana location along Ruta 5 with fast access to San Antonio port, Valparaíso port, and SCL airport reduces transit time and cost for bonded cargo

How bonded storage works with InterWF

  • Arrival and customs entry - Your shipment arrives at San Antonio, Valparaíso, or SCL airport. Our customs team files the bonded entry declaration with Servicio Nacional de Aduanas, and the goods transfer to our Almacén Particular under customs seal.

  • Receiving and inventory - Our team unloads, inspects, and registers every item in the Körber Warehouse Edge WMS. Lot numbers, quantities, and customs reference numbers are linked for full traceability.

  • Storage and value-added services - Goods remain in bonded status for up to 90 days (extendable). During this period, you can request labeling, quality inspection, and repacking services. Our WMS provides real-time inventory visibility.

  • Release or re-export - When ready, we process the customs release for domestic distribution (duties and IVA paid at this point) or coordinate re-export shipments duty-free. Documentation is filed electronically with Aduanas for fast processing.

Additional bonded services

  • Pre-clearance inspection - Inspect goods before paying duties. Identify damaged items, verify quantities, and make disposition decisions while cargo is still in bonded status.

  • Consolidation and deconsolidation - Combine multiple bonded shipments into single releases, or split containers into separate bonded lots for different release dates.

  • Temperature-controlled bonded storage - Refrigerated and climate-controlled zones available for pharmaceuticals, food products, and other temperature-sensitive bonded cargo.

  • Documentation and compliance - Origin certificate verification, tariff classification, FTA preference application, and full Aduanas coordination handled by our licensed team.

Almacén Particular vs. Zona Franca: what's the difference?

Both options defer Chilean import duties, but they serve different purposes. An Almacén Particular Autorizado (bonded warehouse) stores goods under Aduanas supervision for up to 90 days, primarily used for temporary storage before domestic entry or re-export. Goods are expected to move relatively quickly through the supply chain.

A Zona Franca (free trade zone), such as ZOFRI in Iquique or Zona Franca de Punta Arenas, allows indefinite duty-free storage plus value-added processing, manufacturing, and assembly. Zona Franca is better suited for long-term inventory positioning and regional distribution hubs. InterWF can advise which option best fits your logistics strategy and cost structure.
